President Rodrigo Duterte reportedly plans to remove Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre from his post. This is after the Department of Justice dismissed the criminal charges against alleged drug lords.
The President was said to be angry by the DOJ decision to dismiss the cases against Cebu-based businessman Peter Lim, Kerwin Espinosa and other alleged drug personalities.
Aguirre lost the trust and confidence of the President after the DOJ secretary was involved in several controversies, such as the P50 million bribery scandal involving Immigration deputy commissioners Al Argosino and Michael Robles.
Aguirre’s plan to review the dismissal against Lim and company is unlikely to save his position, sources said.
In a speech last March 23, President Duterte said that he’s planning to fire more government officials when he returns to the Malacanang Palace after the Holy Week. The President has already fired several officials over allegations of corruption and excessive foreign travels.
